Donkorkrom robbery: Accused policeman falls sick

One of the police officers allegedly involved in the robbery of a bullion van at Maame Krobo in the Eastern Region has fallen sick and is currently on admission at the Police Hospital in Accra.

The prosecutor in the case, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Abraham Annor informed the Accra District Magistrate Court on Tuesday that Corporal Solomon Elvis Mensah was not well and could therefore not make it to court.

The two other accused persons Lance Corporal Daniel Kissi Abrokwa and Hafisu Muhammad, a driver were however present in court.

The trio have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder while the two police men have been charged with attempted robbery and murder.

At the hearing of the case today, the Prosecutor also informed the court that investigations into the case were at an advanced stage and the case docket would be sent to the Attorney- General's Department in two weeks’ time for advice.

The court, presided over by Mr Stephen Owusu, adjourned the case to September 20, 2016
