Donkorkrom residents sets police station on fire

Some residents of Donkorkrom in the Afram Plains North district of the Eastern region Thursday morning set the police station in the area ablaze following a demonstration to protest a laxity in law enforcement in the area.
The residents blamed the police for masterminding the escape of two police suspects who were being transported to Koforidua for their involvement in a robbery incident in the area.
Thursday morning’s demonstration led to a clash with the police as a number of people were injured and sent to the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.
The police had to use teargas and gun shots to disperse the demonstrators.
