Don’t travel to foreign countries by illegal routes - White Bird International Director advises youth

The Programmes Director of White Bird International, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Mr Innocent Donkor, has cautioned the youth against using illegal routes to travel to foreign countries.

That, he said, would ensure that they avoided endangering their lives.

Mr Donkor sounded the caution during an interaction with some young men when the NGO undertook a house-to-house education on the dangers of illegal migration at Top Town Apeedwa at Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South municipality.

At the event, the programmes director showcased some of the illegal activities undertaken by some people, including the use of boats to cross over to Europe, as well as walking across the desert.

“Many people die through such channels because they want an easy way out to travel. People take your money and then put your life at risk,” he said.

Mr Donkor, therefore, asked those desirous of travelling abroad to acquire proper documentation and use legal routes, instead of “engaging in illegalities to seek greener pastures”.

He said they should acquire passports, get visas, among other documentations that were required to travel.

“You should also avoid using middlemen because they may end up duping you,” he said.
