Dismiss men of God who make electoral prophecies —  Apostle Badu-Woode

Vice-president Kwesi Amissah-Arthur last Sunday joined the Asokwa branch of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) and the Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre during their Sunday worship services as part of his visit to the Ashanti Region.

Mr Amissah-Arthur and his entourage were received by the Area Head of the PIWC, Apostle Ekow Badu-Woode, together with other church leaders for their communion service.

He was accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr John Alexander Ackon; the deputy Regional Minister, Mr Andy Osei Ocran; and other leading figures of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the region.

Sermon

Preaching the sermon, Apostle Badu-Woode asked Ghanaians to dismiss the so-called men of God who made electoral prophecies regarding which candidate would win the 2016 election.

He said God only appointed leaders by using people to exercise their democratic right of choice and described those who publicly made predictions on the outcome of an election as charlatans with a grand scheme to deceive the innocent public.

He asked religious leaders to respect the will of the people and desist from making political statements that undermined their calling.

“Let the Lord speak through the ballot box by using the thumb of the voter. Election is a divine way by which God appoints leaders,” Apostle Badu-Woode added.

He called for a peaceful election, saying that “we must engage in brotherly politics and not bloody politics” while stressing that the dream of the country could only be achieved through a peaceful election.

Apostle Badu-Woode highlighted the need for healthy political discourse rather than saturating the atmosphere with politics of insults and name calling.

Benediction

Mr Amissah-Arthur, who gave the benediction to bring the service to an end, asked Ghanaians to commit the country to prayer ahead of the polls.

He said the NDC administration would continue to pursue policies and programmes to advance the cause of the citizenry as his party sought a second term in office.

“We will continue to thank God for what he has done for our country,” the vice-president said.
