Defence Ministry hands over residential facility 37 Hospital
The Ministry of Defence has handed over a four-storey building block to serve as residential apartment for senior officers at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

It would also serve as residential accommodation for some medical officers who live far away from the hospital.
The facility, made up of a total of 16 flats and contains biodigesters, was constructed by Supreme Building Limited at a cost of GH¢6 million.
Handing over
The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major Derek Oduro (rtd), handed over the facility to the management of the hospital in Accra yesterday.
Major Oduro reiterated the government’s commitment to provide residential accommodation for military personnel in the country.
According to him, similar projects were currently ongoing at the various Military hospitals in Kumasi and Tamale respectively.
“The government will provide the needed residential accommodation for medical officers and security agencies,” he gave an assurance.
He lauded the management of the hospital and other corporate institutions for their continuous support towards the hospital over the years.
The minister added that the government would take immediate steps to rehabilitate military buildings that had been affected by recent rainstorms in the country.
He also inspected some facilities at the hospital.
Maintenance culture
Major Oduro called on hospital authorities to adopt proper maintenance culture of its facilities, stating that “the ministry will also evaluate the work of contractors after a period of time to see if the building can stand the test of time.”
The Commander in charge of the 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General Ernest Shaka Jnr, gave an assurance that a strict maintenance culture of the flats would be ensured.
He stated that the facility would enable medical officers who hitherto lived far away, to now report to work early.
