Dad, two sons dragged to court

A father and his two sons are standing trial before an Accra Circuit Court for assault.

Ebenezer Abrah Bediako, a businessman; Ebenezer Chief Abrah Bediako, a student, and Emmanuel Baffour Abrah Bediako, also a businessman, are facing four counts of conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, assault and stealing.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of GH¢80,000 with one surety each.

They are to reappear on April 17, 2015.

The Prosecutor, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Moses Atimbilla, told the court that the complainant in the case, Isaac Harry Lartey, is a businessman who is resident at East Legon in Accra, while the three accused persons reside at Kwashiebu, a suburb of Accra.

On February 15, 2015, Lartey was asked by his mother to send a metal container to her land at Kwashiebu.

The prosecutor said immediately Lartey arrived on the land, the accused persons attacked him and threatened to burn the container if he put it on the land.

ACP Atimbilla said Lartey did all he could to resolve the issue with the accused persons but they refused.

Soon after the driver released the container on the land, the accused poured petrol on it and burned it and also assaulted Lartey in the presence of the driver, who is a witness in the case.

He said after burning the container, the accused persons carried the parts away.

A complaint was lodged and they were arrested.

ACP Atimbilla said in their caution statement, only Abrah Bediako admitted the offence.
