Cummins warns customers against counterfeit products

Cummins Ghana has admonished owners of vehicles with Cummins diesel engines to desist from buying counterfeit parts that are flooding the market by the day.

It said although some of the parts on the market appeared original, they were not Cummins engine parts, and may damage the vehicle’s engine leading to extra cost to owners and sometimes loss of productive hours.

The Aftermarket Leader for Cummins Ghana, Mr Isaac Budu, in a press release, said installing counterfeit parts may cause early failure which could result in unscheduled downtime and increased repair costs.

He said customers should therefore endeavour to purchase their parts from authorised Cummins distributors or dealers.

He said the mark of dependability that Cummins offered would continue to underpin its operations.

He cited the Cummins QSL19, QSK45-QSK78, KTA50, VTA, QSL and QXL-series diesel engine systems produced by the company as products that had stood the test of time and established credibility and trust.

“For close to a century, Cummins has been building engines and today, Cummins engines power nearly every type of vehicle and earth-moving equipment, whether in fire trucks, 18-wheelers or 360-ton mining haul trucks,” he said.

He added that the universality of Cummins engines had made the name of the company synonymous with diesel engines, even though it engaged in the production and manufacture of other products for the world market.

According to Mr Budu the company manufactures a diverse line-up of engines from 49 to 4400 horsepower and recently launched the QSK95 named ‘The Hedgehog’.
