This followed an ex-parte application to the Fast Track High Court (Financial Division) by the Financial Intelligence Centre. The court granted the application on Thursday morning.

Mr Mensah is being investigated by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in connection with some financial transactions and other processes at the health insurance authority during his tenure as Chief Executive.

Some service providers and staff of NHIA being probed in the ongoing investigations had mentioned him.

He was last week granted bail after interrogation at the headquarters of the BNI. He was said to have handed himself over to the BNI on New Year’s Day.

This was after armed BNI operatives had gone to his residence at Tse Addo, near the Trade Fair in Accra, the previous night (December 31, 2015).

Mr Mensah is said to have spent well over eight hours in assisting the security operatives in gathering information on suspected issues of false claims by some 10 medical facilities.

He was in the middle of June 2015, relieved of his post as CEO after six years in office. His then deputy, Nathaniel Otoo (Deputy Chief Executive, Operations) was appointed as acting CEO.
