Court clears EC to collect filing fees for now until PPP case ends

The Accra High Court has dismissed an interlocutory application by the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) that sought to bar the Electoral Commission (EC) from collecting filing fees from Political Parties.

The PPP had wanted the court to stop the EC from collecting the fees until the determination of its suit challenging the legality of the fees.

But the court, presided over by Mr Justice Daniel Mensah, on Friday morning dismissed the application and adjourned the substantive case to Tuesday October 11, 2016.
