Country’s leaders must serve in humility — Rev Degraft Priddy

The Nkawkaw Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Right Reverend John Degraft Priddy, has called on people in leadership positions in the country to serve in humility. He said that would go a long way to ensure that the country enjoyed rapid development devoid of acrimony and selfishness.

"Leadership should also seek opinions from all shades of people and remember always that God is supreme in all things," he said.

Bishop Priddy made the call at the induction of Very Rev. James .E. B. Vandyck as the first Synod Secretary of the Nkawkaw Diocese of the church at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region last Sunday.

The Nkawkaw Diocese of the Methodist Church, which was created last year, was carved out of the Koforidua Diocese.

Rt Rev. Priddy urged leaders of the Christian persuasion to rely on the Holy Spirit for the right decisions in the discharge of their duties.

To Very Rev. Vandyck, "You have been called into leadership not because of your achievements but by the grace of God, as such your duties must go beyond merely writing letters to also win people for Christ."

"When the Bishop fails, it means you have failed, and when you fail, I have also failed. You must work diligently to strengthen the Nkawkaw Diocese and make it stand the test of time," he added.

He further noted, “Although you may encounter challenges in the discharge of your duties, never despair, but rely on the Holy Spirit for directions."

Bishop Priddy congratulated the inductee on his elevation to the post of a Synod Secretary and called on members of the church in the diocese to give him the necessary support and cooperation to enable him to succeed.
