Contract Cleaners Assoc. joins global body : To raise industry standards

Ghana’s only contract cleaning umbrella group, Contract Cleaners Association of Ghana (CCAG), recently became the newest member of the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) —   the leading worldwide trade association for the industry.

CCAG’s alliance was confirmed in Amsterdam in The Netherlands with a certificate presentation ceremony that made it the second cleaning industry group in Africa, after SA’s National Contract Cleaners Association, to join the global body.

“I am very pleased that our efforts to continually advance professionalism within Ghana’s cleaning industry have been recognised by ISSA,” said CCAG President Sammy Laing.

Joining ISSA, he said, would offer CCAG members an exclusive opportunity to tap into nearly 100 years of history and development in the cleaning industry.

ISSA forms alliances with contract cleaning, waste management, facility management companies, distributors and manufacturers of cleaning products and equipment to raise standards in the industry and to reinforce its mission to help change the way the world views cleaning. Its membership spans the globe with more than 7,000 cleaning solutions providers and it has offices in Northbrook, IL; Mainz, Germany; and Shanghai, China.

Ms Dianna Steinbach, ISSA Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Services, said the worldwide body was inspired by “the enthusiasm CCAG has for helping raise the level of professionalism in Ghana’s cleaning market. We are so pleased to work with CCAG to bring global resources to their members.”

The alliance, Mr Laing said, would provide CCAG members the much-needed access to ISSA’s global standards training, training materials, conferences, up-to-date industry information and a global network that had the potential of helping member companies grow and venture into other African countries.

“This will help our cleaning industry in Ghana to provide a world-class professional service to business owners, facility managers, property managers and domestic clients.”

Mr Laing urged other cleaning companies that were yet to join CCAG to come on board to help sanitise the industry in Ghana.

The CCAG President also talked about the importance of engaging the services of professional cleaning companies. “Cleaning is more than a mop and a bucket; how we clean and what we use to clean has a huge impact on public health.”

Established in 1993, CCAG has a membership of more than 100 cleaning companies and is dedicated to promoting industry standards in Ghana and providing a channel for client complaints and dispute resolution.
