Lithuania, located in north-eastern Europe, is one of the most visited countries in Europe, recording some 2.3 million travelers to the country in 2016, representing a 10 per cent increase on 2015.

The architectural heritage of Lithuania which also boasts of crosses and crucifixes, as well as statues of the Virgin Mary and Lithuanian patriots, which were left by Catholic pilgrims have all made various cities in the country major tourist attractions.

At the cocktail, which also marked the opening of Lithunia’s consulate in Accra and attended by the visiting Lithunian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Linas Linkecvicius, the Honorary Consular, Mr Arthur Roshkovskis challenged Ghanaian businesses especially those in the tourism and hospitality sectors to liaise with the consulate since business opportunities exist in the country.

He said the consulate is looking forward to strengthening the 25-year diplomatic and economic relations that has existed between Ghana and Lithuania not only in the area of tourism and culture, but also fruitful partnerships in the areas of agriculture, renewable energy among others.
