The General Assembly of the church and the Liberty Assemblies of God Church, located at Abeka in Accra, received cash amounts of GH¢250,000 each.

The move by the company was in fulfilment of its corporate social responsibility activities for this year.

An announcement of the donation was made at the 14th anniversary thanksgiving service of the construction company, held in Accra last Sunday.

Present at the event were the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr Paul Frimpong Manso;  the General Treasurer of the church, Rev. Sam Ato Bentil; Chairman of the First Sky Group, Mr Eric Seddy Kutortse, staff of the company and a section of the public.

Mr Kutortse said the donation was in appreciation to God for bestowing favour on the company in 2016 and making it possible for it to reach out to the poor and needy as part of events leading to the celebration of its anniversary.

Previous donations

As part of the initiative to assist the destitute, the company in December last year provided a seed capital of GH¢2 million to the Renal Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) to support patients with kidney disease to enable them to undergo renal dialysis.

Last year, the company also defrayed an accumulated debt of GH¢656,000 owed by about 340 patients at the Renal Unit of the hospital.

Funding for the activity accrued from the company’s annual savings for 2016 earmarked for humanitarian and relief services for the poor and needy.

Dedicated workers

According to Mr Kutortse, the company made profit owing to the discipline and dedication of its workers.

He urged the public to uphold the virtues of hard work, dedication to duty and accountability, adding that those were the virtues that led to success in life.

“Our company has been working for the past 14 years and no case of corruption or malfeasance has been recorded against us. This shows that when businesses are conducted in a truthful and accountable manner, the country will gain tremendously,” he added.

Company lauded

Rev. Dr Frimpong Manso lauded efforts made by the company to support the needy in society.

"Your passion for mission and humanitarian acts of extending love and care to the needy is very exemplary. As you give to those in need, God will provide for you as well," he said.

Other speakers, in their goodwill messages, lauded the First Sky Group and asked for God’s blessings for the company to enable it to expand its territory.
