The organisation, which started the advocacy campaigns in communities, extended the programme to the Kaneshie lorry station where they educated commuters on the hazards of embarking on such dangerous expeditions.

As part of the programme, a Director of the NGO, Mr Innocent Donkor, distributed tracks on illegal migration to passengers aboard the buses.

Advice

He advised them to be wary of people who claimed they could facilitate their journeys abroad through illegal routes.

Mr Donkor mentioned the desert and the Mediterranean Sea as some of the perilous routes migrants used to Europe.

“Some people would come and take your money with the assurance that they can help you travel; sometimes they take you midway through the journey and leave you to continue on your own. Many people have died through the use of such illegal routes,” he indicated.
