Cocaine suspect claimed airport ground staff handed her the stuff- Hannah Tetteh

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hannah Tetteh on Tuesday threw more light on the controversy surrounding the arrest of one Nayele Ametefe at the Heathrow Airport, UK, for carrying 12.5kg of cocaine.

Hannah Tetteh who spoke on Radio Gold via phone said the suspect after her arrest told consular officials at the Ghana Mission in the UK that an airport ground staff at the Kotoka Airport had brought the bag containing the drugs aboard the plane and handed it to her, and that she wanted to untake the trip because the reward was good. She was however not prepared to disclose who she worked with.

According to Hannah Tetteh, consular officials quoted the suspect as saying she was ready to do time in jail and expressed surprise why the Ghanaian authorities were interested in her case when she was not travelling on a Ghanaian passport.
