Class Media Group donates to 19 mothers

Nineteen mothers who were delivered of their babies at the Maamobi Hospital in Accra from Friday to Sunday celebrated the Mother’s Day in style last Sunday, as they received a donation of assorted items from the Class Media Group.

Six of the mothers had their deliveries through Caesarean section.

The items, including diapers, washing powder and clothing worth hundreds of Ghana cedis, were procured by the Class Media Group and its partners.

Presenting the items, the General Manager of Class Media Group, Nana Apeanti, said the donation was to support the mothers to give their newborn babies the best of hygienic care.

He said the first few days in the life of a child were very important as they were the period for physical health and brain development, stressing that: “Your future depends on the care you get on the first day you come to this world.”

Celebrate mothers

Nana Apeanti said mothers needed to be celebrated and empowered as they experienced nine months of pregnancy and also catered for children.

“They should be handled the way we handle eggs. They house and keep everybody for nine months. Some of them, even after delivery, become crippled,” he said.

Nana Apeanti, therefore, urged men to support their wives, saying: “If fathers support mothers to bear their workload, they (the women) will have a clearer conscience, a free mind and improved health to take care of husbands and children.”

The Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the Labour Ward of the Maternity Department of the Maamobi Hospital, Ms Veronica Obeng, who received the items on behalf of the mothers, said due to financial difficulty, many mothers were unable to buy detergents and other items to keep themselves and their babies clean after delivery.

She, therefore, thanked Class Media Group for the gesture and asked other organisations to follow suit.
