‘Citizens must support government in development process’
The President of the United Kingdom-based group of Beposo residents, Ms Esther Owusu Adjei, has underscored the need for citizens to support the government in providing infrastructure for the development of society.

She explained that although it was the responsibility of the government to lead in the provision of infrastructure for social development, this should not be left solely for the government, hence the need for citizens to complement government’s effort in various ways.
She said complementing government’s effort would help ease its burden, as well as expedite action on the provision of the needed infrastructure for the nation’s development.
Ms Adjei made the statement in an interview with the Daily Graphic during a ceremony to inaugurate a 10-seater water closet for the Beposo D/A Basic School in the Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region.
Project cost
The project was funded by members of the group at a cost of 6,500 pounds, in support of the development of the community.
Until the construction of the facility, pupils of the school had to either queue at the only toilet in the town or go to the bush to attend to the call of nature, and that affected academic work in the school.
Advice to parents
Ms Adjei advised parents to ensure that their children were kept in school and desisted from illegal mining operations which were very common in the area.
She lamented about the dangers involved in ‘galamsey’ operations and said parents still allowed their children to partake in those acts even though they posed a threat to their lives.

The District Chief Executive for Bosomtwe, Madam Veronica Antwi-Adjei, lauded the UK-based group for the project and pledged the assembly’s support to all communities that initiated their own development projects.
She said with the increasing needs of the country, it was important for all Ghanaians to support the nation’s development agenda by helping in the building of infrastructural facilities.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Alex Adu-Parko, said the provision of the toilet had saved the school from the difficulties it went through in the past and made an appeal for the construction of a new school block to ease the current congestion confronting the school.
