CIMG launches 27th marketing performance awards

Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) has launched its 27th annual marketing performance awards at a ceremony in Accra.

Slated for September 10, 2016, this year’s programme is on the theme: “Democracy and national cohesion; marketing a new political paradigm.”

Unlike previously, this year, the awards will cover seven major areas: hall of fame, personalities, media/MARCOMS organisations, business organisations, product(s), not-for-profit organisations and special category.

Launch

Launching the event, the National President of CIMG, Mr Kojo Mattah, said the association had over the years been responding to new trends and developments to ensure that the awards scheme reflected the practices, standards and principles expected from the award winners.

In that respect, he said every year, the criteria, areas of awards and the selection processes were reviewed to respond to modern standards and practices.

Commenting on the theme for this year, Mr Mattah stated that it was carefully chosen to reflect the election year, as the nation prepared for this year’s polls.

“Our dear nation has so far conducted itself to the admiration of most people in terms of democratic governance, and we pride ourselves to be a peaceful country within a sub-region that has seen unstable situations in many areas,” he said.

Mr Mattah condemned the recent utterances among the political class and social commentators on the media landscape, saying that they were reckless, needless and uncalled for.

Selection criteria

Explaining the selection criteria for this year’s event, the Vice- President, Mr Kasser Tee, indicated that the process was a rigorous one.

He said as part of the processes, adverts would be placed in the dailies, and letters sent out to request individuals and organisations to nominate candidates for the various award categories according to the CIMG’s set criteria.

So far, Mr Tee said, organisations such as the Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Ministry of Trade and Industries (MOTI) and the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana have joined in the nomination and selection processes.
