Christian Council calls for campaign on attitudinal change
The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) is calling for a national campaign to bring about attitudinal change to ensure that things are done right by the citizenry.

The council has, therefore, called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to, as a matter of urgency, lead a national campaign on disturbing issues such as water pollution, galamsey, road accidents and open defecation, to exercise the conscience of the public and help stem the tide.
The General Secretary of the council, Rev. Dr Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, who was speaking in an interview, said, “We are calling on the President and the new administration to consider a national campaign on attitudinal change.”
Galamsey
He expressed worry about the level of environmental degradation and water pollution resulting from galamsey and called for a halt to the practice.
Rev. Opuni-Frimpong foresaw a bleak future if “what is happening today is not stopped”.
He, therefore, commended the Graphic Communications Group Ltd for championing the campaign to halt galamsey, describing it as a worthy cause that must be supported.
National campaign
Rev. Opuni-Frimpong recalled that the late Vice-President Aliu Mahama led a national campaign for greater discipline among Ghanaians and was confident that another national campaign, championed by President Akufo-Addo, would make the desired impact.
He said the council’s fear and worry was that if things continued to be done as normal and as usual, in view of the level of environmental degradation, pollution of water bodies, “then we should not expect anything different.”
He said the campaign should bring on board stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious leaders, security agencies and the media and its impact evaluated and measured from time to time, to see its effect.
“Now if we don’t see that, then it is still going to be business as usual, this is the appeal we are making to the current President.”
“Accidents on our roads and water pollution; these two cannot wait. Open defecation is also very disgraceful,” he emphasised.
