Chinese Ambassador supports two farming communities in Birim North District

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Madam Sun Baohong, has donated 300 machetes, 200 Wellington boots and 150 spraying machines to Pankese and Kyenkyenku, two farming communities in the Birim North District in the Eastern Region, to boost food production.

During the presentation, Madam Baohong said she was concerned about development in agriculture in the country since it would boost food production and conserve foreign exchange needed for other sectors of the economy.

She said the Chinese government attached great importance to welfare of citizens and promised the support of China in ensuring that the living standards of inhabitants in the two communities were improved.

She added that she was content that the Kpong Water Project in the Eastern Region, built with a loan support from China, had increased water supply to certain parts in the south of the country.
According to the Chinese Ambassador, she is hopeful that further cooperation between the two countries will accelerate efforts to get their peoples to overcome difficulties and obstacles and set them on the path of prosperity and rejuvenation.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abirem, Mr John Osei-Frimpong, thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the items and urged farmers who received the items to use them skillfully so that there would marked improvement in food and cocoa production in the area.

Mr Osei-Frimpong also urged farmers in the Birim North District to work hard and increase food production, since farming is the mainstay of the local industry.
