In a joyous, thankful and worship mood, the congregation, which included family members of the Chief Justice, judges and some staff of the Judicial Service, sang and praised God for the honour bestowed on Ms Justice Akuffo and the responsibilities entrusted to her.

Also in attendance were the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem North, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah–Agyei, the Queenmother of the Akuapem Traditional Area, Nana Nketiaa Obuo II and other prominent personalities from Akuapem and surrounding areas.

Gifts, Ghana first

The African Women Forum (AWF), queenmothers of the various traditional areas in Akuapem, led by Nana Obuo, and the congregation, presented gifts to the Chief Justice.

The acting Moderator of the PCG and the Chairperson of the Akuapem Presbytery, Reverend Dr George O. Kwapong, urged the Chief Justice to seek the interest of the country in all her endeavours.

“Ghana should be the ultimate winner in decisions you take and I know that the good Lord will be with you and give you a testimony every day,” he said.

He appealed to Ghanaians to support the Chief Justice with prayers to enable her to discharge her duties in accordance with the laws of the country and be pleasing to God.

Rev. Dr Kwapong bemoaned the poor performance of students from the Akuapem South and North Districts in recent Basic Education Certificates Examination (BECE) and appealed to stakeholders to help revive education standards in the two districts.

“When we look around, there are lots of people from Akuapem who have risen to prominent positions in the country by virtue of taking their education seriously and hard work. A clear example is the Chief Justice. We must, therefore, encourage and help our children to excel in their studies so they can contribute positively to this country in the future,” he said.

Support

A representative of Justice Akuffo’s family, Mr Nicholas Akuffo, called on Ghanaians to support the Chief Justice, saying “We pray to God to remove any form of fear from her path and strengthen her to uphold only the truth.”
