This is virtually a daily occurrence in the cities and on our highways.

Unfortunately, in most cases, no one can immediately be seen to be responsible for the animals.

In this instance, the animals forced their way through the vehicles, hitting some and forcing some drivers off the main road.

The situation was more serious because drivers on the side whose lights had shown green had started moving only to realise the obstruction and had to struggle to reduce their speed.

It is usually observed that once some of the animals begin to move, the others follow and this oftentimes has created unnecessary traffic delays. People have been injured in the process and cars have been damaged as well.

Authorities in the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) should take steps to address this to prevent hazards from indiscriminate movement of cattle.  Picture: Kate Baaba Hudson.
