Businessman enstooled chief of Okaiman

A 57-year-old businessman, Mr Harrison Nii Armah Amarteifio, has been enstooled the chief of Okaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

His strool name is Nii Amartei Shika Tsuru.

The chief would preside over the Okaiman Traditional Area, which stretches from Lapaz to Tabora, Alhaji, Israel and surrounding communities.

Nii Amartei Shika Tsuru was enstooled by the Dzasetse of Asere, Nii Amarkai III. 

Before his  coronation, the Okaiman stool had been presided over by an acting chief, Dzasetse Nii Adjedu.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nii Amarkai III congratulated the new chief and his team of elders and urged  them to ensure peace and tranquillity in the area.

He entreated them to focus on developing the area and cautioned them to be careful when dealing with land issues.

Pledge

For his part, Nii Tsuru pledged to be fair and just to everyone living within his jurisdiction and be loyal to the people of Asere.

“I will in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Authority and the sub metropolitan administrators promote the development of Okaiman, to make Okaiman the model of political and traditional cooperation in the country, “he said.

He appealed to the Asere authority to support him throughout his reign as the leader of the Okaiman stool.

Goodwill messages

In his message, an elder of the Asere Stool, Nii Amarkai Amarteifio, urged the chief to cooperate with his constituents, the municipality, and the central government to develop the area.

 Nii Ayi Odaorko Dzasetse; the Station Officer in charge of Israel Police Station,  Mr James Lardey and a chief from Trobo-Zongo, Abubakar Muhasinu, also congratulated the new chief.

Later, Nii  Tsuru sprinkled Kpokpoi, a Ga traditional meal, as part of the celebration of the Homowo festival in the area, while a joyous crowd danced to traditional drumming.
