Emmanuel Teye, aka Emma, who appeared before the Dodowa Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Charles Acheampong, pleaded not guilty to two counts of defilement and having carnal knowledge of the victim.

He was remanded in prison custody to reappear on January 16, 2017 for further hearing.

Presenting the facts to the court, the prosecutor, Sergeant Saviour Ashiagbor, said on November 9, 2016 at about 8 p.m., the victim was sent to a nearby village by her parents. On her way back home, Teye offered the girl a lift home.

According to the prosecutor, the victim accepted the offer and joined the accused person in his four-wheel drive.

On their way, however, Teye stopped the car and sexually assaulted her in the car.

Sgt Ashiagbor said after Teye had satisfied his lust, he left the girl to her fate. She went home and narrated her ordeal to her parents.

The victim’s father reported the incident to the police at Doryumu and Teye was arrested.

When the presiding judge asked the girl in the open court whether Teye had really had carnal knowledge of her, she answered in the affirmative to the hearing of all present at the court.
