Book on legal education for the everyday man launched
A reference law book that seeks to help Ghanaians find their way around complex legal situations has been launched at the Knutsford University College in Accra.

The book titled "iLegal" was launched on Thursday and has an objective to provide average people with an understanding of basic legal concepts and to empower them to think like lawyers and defend themselves when the need arises.
The book entails case scenarios, discussions, explanations and interpretations of everyday life situations and how readers can assert their rights in such cases.
It also has simplified legal terms and interpretations.
Mr Kwasi Prempeh-Eck, the Director of Legal Education of the Ghana School of Law noted that introducing how the law works in its basic form to the average man is imperative to help them avoid certain brushes with the law and to prevent them from being victims.
Mr Prempeh-Eck who was speaking at the launch of the book said Ghanaians should endeavour to be literate in legal matters and tackle everyday issues without necessarily contacting a lawyer.
He said people fall into all manner of troubles because they don’t take their time to understand what they are getting into, therefore having some insights of the law will assist people to properly conduct themselves in any circumstance they find themselves.
Dr Nana Oppong, the author of the book said the gap between Ghana's natural resources pales in comparison to its intellectual resources which he said was not a natural phenomenon, adding that there was a need to "relearn" how to take advantage of our situations by knowing how to tackle them.
He said authoring the book was his way of ensuring the Ghanaian society is learned in the basics of law, "so that we are no longer victims of those who know how to use the law to their advantage and our disadvantage," he added.
The Pro-vice chancellor of Knutsford University College Mr John Kwamena Essel encouraged lecturers to undertake research into critical areas that are capable of being published into books.
He said lecturers and researchers have enough knowledge and expertise to document in order to help inform and transform the minds of the upcoming generation.
