Juliana Nartey, 32, was charged with causing harm to a 60-year-old woman, Mamle Tawiah.

She was fined GH¢250 in addition to a compensation of GH¢600 for the complainant or in default serve 12 months’ imprisonment after her child is five years old.

Juliana could not readily pay both the fine and the compensation and was therefore granted bail in the sum of GH¢6,000 with two sureties.

The facts presented by ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah were that the complainant, Mamle Tawiah, lived at Hwekper while Juliana, resided in Kodjonya - both suburbs of Odumase-Krobo.

The prosecutor said on June 16, 2016, at about 4:30 pm, Mamle went to the public toilet at Kodjonya and while she was there, Juliana also came by to use the facility.

ASP Yeboah said Juliana, who was in a hurry, gave the toilet attendant GH¢1.00 but did not take her change.

He said when Juliana came out from the toilet, she met the attendant conversing with Mamle.

He said when Juliana asked for her change, the attendant said she had forgotten the amount Juliana gave to her.

ASP Yeboah said that brought about an argument between Juliana and the attendant with Juliana raining insults on the attendant after she had even taken her change.

Mamle, who witnessed the scene, advised the attendant to ignore Juliana and concentrate on her work.

On hearing the comment, Juliana was said to have attacked Mamle; she pushed her to the ground.

The prosecutor said as a result, Mamle fractured her right hand.

Mamle later reported the incident to the police and Juliana was arrested.

In her caution statement Juliana admitted the offence but explained that it was not intentional.
