Ngmayem, which means abundance of food after a period of hunger, is an annual festival celebrated in some communities in the Dangme Traditional Area including Osudoku, Shai and Manya Krobo.

The Presiding Member (PM) of the Shai- Osudoku District Assembly, Mr Benjamin Manye, noted that festive occasions were meant to unite the people and therefore urged them to remain united at all times and not to allow chieftaincy and land litigation to draw them back.

He expressed concern over the increasing indiscriminate sale of lands meant for development projects and appealed to them to stop such practices.

Mr Manye told the people that the Ayikuma area would also have its share of development projects currently going on in the district.

Projects

The chief of Ayikuma, Nene Nartey Ahujaga Asafo-Adjei III, enumerated a number of development projects, including a CHPS compound and a community library started by the people and appealed to the assembly and other well meaning citizens of the area to support them complete the projects.
