Ayanfuri Kurofofrom community gets borehole water facility
Ghanaians should protect water bodies in their localities from getting polluted as currently many water bodies have become polluted due to the activities of galamsey operators.

The acting Central Regional Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), Mr Henry Franklin Asangbah, who gave this advice, was speaking at a ceremony to hand over a small town water system to the Ayanfuri Kurofofrom community in the Central Region.
Perseus Mining Company undertook to finance the water project which cost GH¢3.5 million. The deal was part of an agreement between the community and the mining company which has taken over part of the old Ayanfuri town for its production. Besides providing the community with potable water, the company is also resettling the people.
The Project Manager of Persues Mining Company, Mr Arwyn Evans, said the water system had two mechanised boreholes, a water treatment plant, a water reservoir with a capacity to hold 120 cubic metres of water and a water distribution pipe network to all buildings in the resettlement area.
He urged the people to take good care of the water system and pay their bills promptly in order to enable it to function efficiently and effectively.
The acting Central Regional Director of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Mr Henry Franklin Asangbah, said the cost of treating polluted water was very expensive, that was why everyone should be involved in ensuring that water bodies in the country were not polluted.
“Water is life and if the current rate of pollution of our water bodies is allowed to go on, many people will die,” he said.
Mr Asangbah urged the people of Ayanfuri Kurofofrom to ensure that their sources of water were clean and further added his voice to the call on the sanitation team at the place to make sure the facility was maintained in order for it to last long.
