Various kinds of drugs, donated by Ernest Chemists, Tobinco, Lansah, Guilin, Janssen Pharmaceutical Company of  Johnson and Johnson and some individuals, were received by Rev. Canon Superintendent Paa Kwasi Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Chaplain of the Ghana Prisons Service.

The group also embarked on a worm eradication educational project in some first cycle institutions last Friday, as part of the celebration.

Annual celebration

Set aside by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the event is observed on September 25 each year to educate the public on the role of the pharmacist in the provision of health care and the varied, useful and impactful roles that pharmacists play in health care all over the world, and this year’s celebration was on the theme: ‘Your pharmacist cares for you.’

Led by the Vice Chairperson of the regional branch, Dr Edmund Ekuadzi, and a team of lecturers from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, including Dr Vivian Boamah, the team educated the pupils of Ayeduase and Kotei RC JHS on the causes and effects as well as the prevention of worm infestation.

Through a visual presentation made by Dr Boamah, the pupils were taken through the various types of worm infestation and their effect on their academic work. They presented a number of exercise books and some stationery to the pupils of the two schools.
