After many years in operation, the Kumasi Children’s Home now has a mechanised borehole facility.  The facility was provided by the Asanteman Kuo, an association of Ghanaians resident in Verona, Italy.

The borehole was provided primarily to ease the water problem the home was facing and to bring relief to inmates.
The Public Relations Officer of the group, Ms Nana Afia Sarpong, who handed the facility over to the home, said the group was motivated to provide the amenity as its contribution to help alleviate the plight of the inmates.
She said in order to ensure that the inmates were well provided for, the group had decided to adopt the home and help it in whichever way it could.
“This would not be the last time the group would be assisting the home. We would be visiting the place regularly to help whenever our assistance is needed”, she said.

Appeal
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Social Welfare, Mrs Gladys Adu noted that another headache for the home was transport. She, therefore, urged the Asanteman Kuo to help.
“Because of the lack of means of transport, it is difficult to take the children to visit places of interest,” she said.
According to her, they would appreciate it if the transportation problem could be tackled immediately. She called on other benevolent organisations to also come to the aid of the home.

Appreciation
The Supervisor of the Home, Mrs Mabel Boamah-Amponsah, was grateful to the group for its assistance.
She said the borehole would go a long way to help solve the water shortage at the home.
