Asamankese SHS board sworn in

A fourteen-member board of governors for the Asamankese Senior High School (ASASCO) in the West Akim Municipality in the Eastern Region has been inaugurated.

The new board is to ensure judicious use of the school’s resources and also support its effective management for academic excellence.

The members include the Eastern Regional Director of Education, Ms Gertrude Mensah, the West Akim Municipal Director of Education, Ms Rebecca Ayisah, the Headmaster of the school, Rev. Sam M. Adjei Munyuhitum, and Mr Stephen Boadu-Appiah, a representative of the Director General of the Ghana Education Service.

Others are Benjamin Owusu Acquaah, Zachariah Tetteh,  Samuel Odosu Asare, Emmanuel Sey, Millicent B. Anum and Stephen Brako Antwi. The rest are Rose Akuffo, Wisdom Kwame Adeti, Vivienne Akosua Dzifa Sessi and  Peter Okyere Jnr. 

Inauguration

The occasion was also used to inaugurate a three-bedroom staff bungalow for the school. The GH¢31,000 project was constructed from the school’s internally generated fund (IGF)

The Eastern Regional Director of Education, Ms Getrude Mensah, who inaugurated the project, commended the school management for the initiative. 

She expressed appreciation to the former board members for their selfless and dedicated service and urged the new members to also put in their best but entreated them not to interfere  in the administrative work of the headmaster.

For his part, the Headmaster of the school, Rev. Munyuhitum, enumerated a number of projects that both the outgoing headmaster and the former board members did which, he said, had enhanced the image of the school, adding, “We hope and believe that your sterling achievements have become the shoulders where the new board members will stand to see the future of great ASASCO”.

The West Akim Municipal Chief Executive, Mr George Mensah Akpalu, who is an old boy, cautioned the new board members against playing the role of auditors and rather assist the headmaster and the management to run the school effectively.

Appeal

A first-year student of the school, Ms Etornam Ahlijah,appealed to the government to facilitate the early completion of projects in the school such as dormitories.
