The items comprised two HP laptop computers and a number of mobile phones belonging to the victim and his three daughters all valued about Ghc6,500.

One of the girls, Adwo Tettekwoh, a final year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) who was the first to come into contact with the robbers was hit on the head with a piece of wood by the robbers.

She has since been treated and discharged at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

Two girls spared

The two other girls, Tettekie Badjo, also a student at the KNUST and Mamle Kofoya, a final year-student at Krobo Girls SHS were however not touched by the robbers.

While one of the robbers pointed a pistol to the face of Mr Kofoya-Tetteh and forced him to bring out cash he had on him, another holding a piece of wood collected the items in the living room and the other bedroom where two of the girls were sleeping.

The remaining robber stood guard at the entrance of the house.

According to Mr Kofoya-Tetteh, at about 1 a.m. on that fateful day, he heard a big bang on the door and when woke up to find out what was happening, one of the robbers who had entered the hall pointed a pistol at him ordering him to surrender cash.

He said the one wielding the pistol told him that they had been instructed to kill him but would not do so on humanitarian grounds but only needed the cash and the items and then followed him to the bedroom for the money.

He said at the same time, the one in the living room collected the items.

The matter has since been reported to the police and the Eastern Regional Police Command is investigating it.

It would be recalled that Mr Kofoya-Tetteh and other media practitioners, especially the Daily Guide Eastern Regional Correspondent had for the past seven months been covering the trials of some of the armed robbers some of whom had been jailed from between 30 and 35 years.
