Archbishop Asafo-Agyei gets global recognition for piles treatment
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asafo-Agyei Hospital, Archbishop Prof. Dr Asafo-Agyei Anane Frempong, has received a global award at the maiden World Changers Summit held in Dubai.

A citation accompanying the award paid tribute to him as the first Ghanaian to qualify as an expert in the non-surgical treatment of piles (Kooko) in 1991.
As the first Ghanaian doctor to non-surgically treat piles using a method called hemorrhoidectomy for more than 40 years, he has contributed towards restructuring Ghana’s health sector, providing top-notch but affordable health care.
The event to honour him was held on the theme: “New Economy Efficiencies/ Old Economy Relationships.” It sought to create a networking platform for professionals and business leaders to be recognised and inspired and to foster knowledge acquisition to produce a greater effect.
Positions
Archbishop Prof. Dr Anane Frempong, who is also the President of the Archbishop Asafo-Agyei Foundation, is a proud recipient of the International Man of the Year 1991 and 1992. He was also adjudged the International Man of Achievement for 1993 and 1994 conferred on him by the International Biographical Centre (IBC) UK.
In May 2000, the IBC selected him for an outstanding scientific award in Cambridge for his contribution to the book, 2000 Outstanding Scientists for the 20th Century, which still serves as a reference for university libraries across the world. The IBC again in 2017 honoured Archbishop Prof. Dr Anane Frempong with a World Honours Cup as an indicative of global inspiration for having excelled in his profession and pursuits.
After receiving the award, Archbishop Anane Frempong declared the recognition as a victory not only for himself but for Ghana.
“Having accomplished enormous success in my professional career, it brings a sense of responsibility that God has a purpose for every man irrespective of your colour,” he stated.
Courtesy call
In a related development, Archbishop Prof. Dr Anane Frempong has paid a courtesy call on the Consul-General of Ghana to UAE, Ms G.S. Bukari, after the latter attended the awards ceremony.
Receiving the archbishop at her residence, Ms Bukari noted that when she saw a Ghanaian nominated for such a prestigious award, she felt proud and deemed it appropriate to be there with her team to show her support.
She reiterated the desire of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to see Ghanaians excel in their various professions and thus improve the fortunes of Ghana as a country.
Non-surgical treatment of piles
For his part, Archbishop Prof. Dr Anane Frempong indicated that the non-surgical treatment of piles was introduced 27 years ago and many people from different parts of the world had contacted the Asafo-Agyei Hospital for treatment.
