Akyem Bosome chiefs pledge allegiance to Omanhene
Fifty-Three traditional rulers, including kingmakers in the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, have pledged their unflinching support for the paramount chief of the area, Okotwaasuo Kantamanto Oworae Agyekum III.

In a resolution adopted by the chiefs at a well-attended emergency traditional council meeting held at Akyem Swedru last Tuesday, the chiefs also promised to work hard to ensure that his reign was successful in order that the traditional area might achieve rapid progress.
Among the chiefs who signed the resolution to back the Omanhene were Obrempong Akomea Biri III (Gyaasehene of Akyem Swedru Ahenkro), Obrempong Appianing Kwaframoa (Chief of Adiembra and Kyidomhene of Akyem Bosome Traditional Area), Obrempong Dubi Nti II (Chief of Akyem Ofoase and Benkumhene of Akyem Bosome Traditional Area) and Obrempong Twum Barima I, Akyem Aperadehene and Nifahene of Akyem Bosome Traditional Area.
Others were Obrempong Amoabeng Oko Awuakye (Chief of Brenase and Adontehene of Akyem Bosome Traditional Area), Obrempong Kwaku Bredu (Chief of Amantia and Mponoahene of Akyem Bosome Traditional Area and Osabarima Kwasi Yeboah (Regent of Akyem Anamase).
According to the traditional leaders, who comprised kingmakers, divisional and wing chiefs, they recognised Okotwaasuo Kantamanto Oworae Agyekum III as the legitimate chief of Akyem Swedru and paramount chief of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area.
“We recognise Okotwaasuo Oworae Agyekum III as the President of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Council, whose name has not been removed from the Register of Chiefs,” they stressed.
The chiefs condemned the action of the paramount queenmother of the Akyem Bosome Traditional Area, Nana Kwatemaa Minkyim II, and described her conduct as uncustomary and unlawful.
They promised to refer the lies, allegations and charges peddled by the paramount queenmother and her associates to the lawyer for the traditional council for advice.
They further described as reprehensible, the slaughter of a sheep by the queenmother to destool the Omanhene because the function of the paramount queen “is only to nominate and not to destool a chief.”
