Ajumako District Assembly ends Second Ordinary Meeting
The Ajumako District Assembly last week held its Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the seventh assembly meeting at Ajumako in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District in the Central Region.

In his address to the meeting, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the assembly, Mr Peter Light Koomson, said between January and July, this year, the assembly collected GH¢153,993.14 as internally generated revenue.
He said as of July this year, the assembly had received GH¢1,156,228.10 as its share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and GH¢226,881,60 from the Ghana Social Opportunity Project (GSOP).
Mr Koomson said the assembly undertook 27 development projects in 2015 and 2016, out of which 10 had been completed and 17 were ongoing.
The projects, he said, included construction of classroom blocks, roads, CHIP Compounds, teachers and nurses quarters and durbar grounds. All these, he said, were financed from the District Assemblies Common Fund, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the District Development Fund (DDF) and the Member of Parliament Fund (MPs FUND).
He said the projects were undertaken to transform the district into a modern one as well as bring about improvements in the lives of the people in the area.
The DCE noted that the crime rate in the district had reduced drastically due to the presence and increased visibility of the police and commended them for their hard work.
He urged members of the assembly to stay united and continue to work at ensuring that the lives of the people in the district were improved.
The DCE said even though members of the assembly were from different backgrounds, the desire to see the district develop should be their ultimate goal.
The Procurement Specialist of the Social Investment Fund (SIF), Mr Kweku Agbesi, briefed the assembly on the projects financed by the fund. He said the SIF was constructing a six-unit classroom block fitted with potable water and an eight-seater KVIP toilet facility at Enyan Apaa. In addition, he said the fund had built a community clinic comprising a consulting room, waiting room, storeroom, changing room, kitchen, resuscitation room, a shower room and a 3-seater toilet facility at Awordo, all at a total cost of GH¢1,023710.88.
Mr Agbesi said the fund was operating in 20 districts in the Central Region and had registered 4,000 farmers in the country for financial support and provision of inputs.
The Zonal Co-ordinator of the Fund for the Central and Western regions, Mad. Faustina Ekuba Mensah, expressed the SIF’s readiness to assist the district even though it was not among the districts earmarked for assistance in the Central Region.
