The storm also destroyed five classrooms at the Pusiga Practice Primary No. 1 and 2 schools.

Thirty-five rooms in 18 houses in the town were damaged. The cost of damage is estimated at GH¢ 70,000.

The Pusiga District Chief Executive, Mr Alhassan Abugbila, has paid a visit to the damaged schools. He said the assembly was making strenuous efforts to facilitate the rehabilitation of the schools before they reopened for the third term.

"Though the storm has damaged a number of houses in the community, the damage to the two schools is severe and so it is  urgent that we rehabilitate them immediately for academic work to go on," he said.

Mr Abugbila further expressed concern over the homeless situation a number of the victims had to face and pledged the assembly’s commitment to provide them with relief .

Victims

Two victims, Mr Awudu Issaka and Madam Margaret Agosim, who both had four rooms in their homes destroyed, sent an urgent request to the National Disaster Management Organisation(NADMO) and other public-spirited organisations to support them with roofing sheets and other building materials to enable them to put their houses back in shape.

According to them, because of the calamity that has befallen them, rendering them homeless as a result, they did not have the peace of mind to engage in any productive venture.
