ADB gives thanks for good year

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has organised a thanksgiving service to show appreciation to God for a turnaround in the bank’s fortunes.

On the theme: “Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever,” the officiating minister called on Ghanaians to develop an attitude of gratitude.

Delivering the sermon, a Senior Bishop of the Action Chapel, Bishop James Saah, said it was very crucial for people to thank God for all He had done for them the whole year.

“In order to do well in this world it is important for us as Christians to add thanksgiving to our faith,” he said.

Workers of the bank, dressed in all-white attires, sang praises and worship songs to thank God for the past year and sought His continuous guidance and protection for the ensuing year.

Managing director

The Managing Director of the bank, Mr Daniel Asiedu, said the bank grew its deposit base by about 45 per cent in the 2016, which he stated would lead to the payment of bonuses for the first time in three years should the performance of the financial institution continue to rise in 2017.

“This significant improvement posted for last year has not been recorded in the history of the financial institution for the past 10 years,” Mr Asiedu told the Daily Graphic after the annual thanksgiving service.

“In 2016, we grew our balance sheet substantially; our deposit for example, grew by 45 per cent. This is a significant improvement that has not happened in the last 10 years. Our profitability is where we will have some challenges, but even that we performed well,” he said.

Mr Asiedu also noted that the bank had already seen significant growth in its profitability for January 2017.

“Our January 2017 profitability is the best recorded in the past three years, so we can say things are going well and both staff and customers are very happy about it,” he added.

The managing director thanked the staff for their continued support towards the development of the bank and urged them to continue to pray and seek God’s protection at all times in all their endeavours.
