He also admonished them to live in peace and harmony since it was the bedrock of socio-economic development of every people.

Dr Dzani, who is also the President of Groupe Ideal, the main sponsor of this year’s Asafotufiami Festival, made the call in Accra at the launch of the 80th anniversary version of the festival.

This year’s celebration is on the theme: “Peace and Unity as a tool for the socio-economic transformation of the Ada Traditional Area.”

Organisers have set a target to raise funds to construct a Community Health Planning Scheme (CHPS) compound for Ada and also build a modern palace for the paramount chief.

Dr Dzani said his company would support the building of the palace with GH¢300,000.

Appeal for support

The Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abram Akuaku III, appealed to individuals and corporate organisations to support the two projects.

He said the area had existed for over 400 years without a palace for the paramountcy and a health post.

The Member of Parliament for Ada East, Mrs Comfort Doyle Ghansah, for her part, called for collaborative efforts to develop the area.

She also underscored the need to harness the natural resources of the area to develop the place, stressing that the peaceful coexistence in the Ada Traditional Area should be guarded judiciously.

High-profile personalities to attend

The Group Head, Corporate Communication and Strategy of Groupe Ideal, Mr Ekow Blankson, said high-profile personalities, including President Nana Akufo-Addo, former Presidents of the Republic, diplomats and representatives of foreign missions would be invited to the grand durbar to climax the event.

He outlined other programmes which included a float from Tema to Ada, a cooking competition, drumming and dancing, a walk, regatta, beach games and party for the aged.
