Ada chiefs urged to be united

The president of Groupe Ideal Dr Kotei Dzani has called for Unity among the Chiefs of the Ada Traditional area.

This, he noted would lead to the socio-economic development of the area.

Speaking at the launch of the 80th Anniversary of the Asafotufiami festival of the people of Ada in Accra, he said the current generation was failing the future generations.

According to him, most of the divisional chiefs of the area were thwarting the efforts of the Paramount Chief in his quest to bring development to the area.

Dr Dzani who noted that the area was ‘crying for development” said if the Chiefs fail to unite, the youths of the area would see to it that the right thing was done.

“The Paramount Chief is frustrated because he is not getting support from some disgruntled divisional Chiefs. We should not be like Hippocratic sitting at one table and drink and wine only to go and do the wrong thing. We the youth of Ada will like to assure you that if you don’t change your ways, very soon you will run and leave your scandal “he warned.

The festival

The festival is a war festival that commemorates the heroic achievements of their ancestors.

The mission of the festival is to inspire and empower one another using effective and innovative means to increase the living standard if the people in the area

This year’s celebration is on the theme “Peace and Unity as a tool for socio-economic transformation of Ada Traditional Area”

The aim of this year’s celebration is to raise fund to construct a community health post (CHPS compound) for the Ada community and also build a modern palace for the Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area.

Dr. Dzani said as means of helping built the palace, his company will support the area with GH 300,000.00

 

Appeal for support

Appealing for support for the commencement of the two aforementioned projects, the Paramount Chief of Ada Traditional Area, Nene Abram January Akuaku III said the area has existed for over 400 years without a palace for the paramount and a health post.

He, therefore, appealed to all and sundry to support them to achieve their goals.

Advice to political leaders

For his part, the guest speaker, Ambassador C.O.C Amate called on political leaders in Ghana to become development oriented by placing development issues at the top of their agenda.

He also urged them to initiate actions that would attract investors into the nation.

 

High profiles to attend

In his welcome address, the Group Head, Corporate Communication, and Strategy of Groupe Ideal the main sponsor of this year’s festival, Mr Ekow Blankson said the event will be attended by high-profile personalities including the President Nana Addo, some former Presidents of the Republic, diplomats, and representatives of foreign missions in Ghana.

He outlined the programmes for the event, including a float from Tema to Ada, Food Bazaar – cooking competition, Drumming and Dancing, Royal Walk and Regatta, Beach Games, Party for the aged and a grand durbar.
