The management members of the Accra West Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have visited the premises of 17 high value customers in their operational area to identify their challenges and find ways of addressing them.

They comprised seven special load tariff (SLT) customers and 10 non-SLT customers.

The SLT customers included Twellium Industry Limited, Voltic Ghana Limited, Accra Brewery Limited, Fine Pack Industries, Ghana Water Company Limited, West Hills and the Achimota malls.

The non-SLT customers included Bomart Farms, Enimirch International, K. Net Constructions, Amandi Investments and Vodafone Ghana.

During the visits, which were led by the General Manager of the Accra West Region, Mr George Appiah-Kubi, customers raised concerns about intermittent outages, disconnections, voltage issues and delays in issuance of bills, among other things, but said they were happy about the visit as it offered them the opportunity to lay bare their challenges to the ECG managers.

Mr Appiah-Kubi assured the customers of ECG’s total support, saying “the visit is part of our efforts to improve the relationship between us and our high value customers. We interact with them to know their problems and see how we can address them.”

He said the 17 customers were selected under the first phase of such visits.

“These are customers who are in manufacturing and build cell sites for telecommunications companies. They consume a lot of power, sometimes within the range of 1000 kVA,” he said.
