Police prosecutors have forwarded the docket of Charles Nana Frimpong, the businessman who allegedly shot dead a mechanic at Alajo in Accra, to the Attorney-General’s (A-G’s) Department for advice.

State attorneys are expected to scrutinise the docket to determine what appropriate charges to proffer against the businessman or further investigations need to be conducted.

The advice from state attorneys would be the basis for committal proceedings to enable the Abeka District Court to rule on whether to commit Frimpong to stand trial at the High Court.

Frimpong was slapped with a provisional charge of attempted murder by state prosecutors after the mechanic, Richard Yaw Boadi, was rushed to the Ridge Hospital for treatment on August 8, 2017.

The prosecution, however, changed the provisional charge to murder, following the death of Boadi on August 9, 2017.

At Wednesday’s hearing, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Hanson Armah, told the court that the police were awaiting the AG’s advice on the case.

The case was, therefore, adjourned to November 30, 2017 by the presiding magistrate, Ms Victoria Guansah.

Alleged murder

On August 8, 2017, Boadi was allegedly shot by Frimpong in the lower abdomen after the mechanic had questioned him for wrongful parking.

The prosecution claim Boadi asked Frimpong to park his Hyundai car well to enable him to also park a 207 Mercedes Benz bus, a situation which led to a heated argument between the two.

Frimpong was alleged to have pulled a gun from his car and shot Boadi.

Two days after the incident, colleagues and other sympathisers of the mechanic embarked on a demonstration to demand justice for his death.

The sympathisers continue to troop the court premises at every sitting during which they rain insults and curses on Frimpong.
