367 Community Police Assistants complete training
Three hundred and sixty-seven Community Police Assistants (CPAs) under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have passed out after completing a five-week intensive course at the Pwalugu Police Public Safety Training School in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region.

The CPAs were trained in community interaction techniques, criminal law, procedure and investigation, traffic management, basic officer safety, human rights, basic security tips, discipline, mental toughness, physical training and foot drills.
The Director of the Pwalugu Police Public Safety Training School, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Adusah Poku, commended the CPAs for comporting themselves during their five-week training.
He expressed the hope that they would translate the high-level discipline, commitment and professionalism they exhibited in their training sessions into their work and wherever they would find themselves.
Caution
ACP Poku cautioned the assistants that they were not yet police personnel so they should know that any infraction on their part and status as CPAs could result in criminal charges being pressed against them.
“Yours is to position yourselves between the communities and the police regarding information flow and intelligence gathering about criminals that will help the police to work more effectively," he added.
He urged them to stand out "as early warning systems on calamities, disasters and conflict situations to support the police in their work".
He commended stakeholders for supporting the training school but appealed to them to provide beds to house about 150 trainees of the school.
The Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Dr Robert Baba Kuganab-Lem, advised the CPAs to be ambassadors of peace, law and order as the November polls approached.
"You must avoid being disrespectful, tyrants and a nuisance to the people you serve in your respective communities," he said.
The Upper East Regional Director of the YEA, Mr Roger Ablimbisa, stated that the first batch of CPAs trained by the school were 830.
He also said the CPA module was one of the 11 modules the government was rolling out under the YEA to create 100,000 jobs nationwide.
