2 students, auto mechanic remanded for stealing laptops at Mankranso SHS

The Mankranso Magistrate Court has remanded two students and an auto mechanic into police custody for a week for allegedly stealing 12 laptops belonging to the Mankranso Senior High School (SHS).

The suspects, Yusif Zakaria, 20 and Kingsley Boamah, 19 are final year students of the Mankranso SHS whilst Kwaku Gariba, 34, is an auto mechanic.

Giving the brief facts of the case in court on Tuesday, the prosecutor, Chief Inspector K. A. Sabeng said on April 27, 2017 authorities of the Mankranso SHS lodged a complaint with the police about the missing 12 laptops.

He said police investigations revealed that the two students stole the key to the computer laboratory and took the 12 laptops away.

He said one student spotted the two whilst they were opening the computer lab and informed the school authorities.

The two were said to have collaborated with Gariba to sell the laptops in Kumasi and reportedly admitted the offence when they were arrested.

The prosecutor said the police have been able to retrieve five laptops as of now.

The court presided over by Mr Stephen Kumi remanded the three into police custody for a week.

The case would be recalled on Tuesday May 9, 2017.
