Identified by the police as Kofi Agyare, aka Bongo, and Iddrisu Yahaya, alias K2, the suspects were arrested from their hideout upon a tip-off.

Their arrest came after a 10-day ultimatum had been issued to the two policemen on duty at the station to produce the escapees.

Six suspects escaped from the cells at Abofour near Offinso.

Arrest

The Offinso District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Mr Michael Boateng, confirmed to the Daily Graphic that Agyare and Yahaya were arrested yesterday.

He said they were arrested upon a tip-off at a village close to the Abofour Forest.

He expressed the hope that the police would be able to arrest the rest of the escapees on the expiration of the ultimatum.

Mr Boateng said the police were still searching for the other four escapees and urged the public to assist in arresting them.
