Yaabogu chief donates computers to Vogu JHS

The Chief of Yaabogu, a farming community in the Kumbungu District in the Northern Region, Naa Seidu Iddi, has donated 15 computers to the Vogu Junior High School (JHS) located in the district.

The donation, made up of 10 laptops and five desktop computers with their accessories, were sourced by the chief from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) to by Red AdBlocker" href="#">enhance the teaching and learning of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the school.

At the presentation ceremony, the Yaabogu-Naa, known in public life as Chief Superintendent Alhaji Seidu Iddi, Commander of the Cantonments Police Station in Accra, said he decided to source or the computers for the school to improve on the teaching and learning of ICT since the subject was now an examinable subject at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) level.

Lack of computers

He noted that most basic schools in rural communities lacked access to computers and this affected academic performance of students, adding that the challenges facing education in the area were militating against the academic development of the pupils.

Naa Iddi, therefore, called on other indigenes and friends of the area to offer a helping hand to the people of the area.

The Chief of Vogu, Naa Bawa Mahama , a member of the Council of State, who received the computers on behalf of the school at a short ceremony, commended Naa Iddi for his initiative and called on other citizens from the area to emulate his example. 

The chief called on the teachers, school management committee and the students to take good care of the computers and also charged the teachers to take advantage of the computers to upgrade their ICT skills.

The Headmaster of the School, Mr Hamdu Mohammed, expressed his appreciation to the chief for the gesture and stated that it would go a long way to improve the academic performance of the pupils.
