Scheduled to be completed in August this year, the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) will have 250 rooms, seminar halls and conference rooms and would be used as a training centre for the centre's lecturers.

It will also serve as a marking centre for the university.

The facility has a 300-seater capacity auditorium and a restaurant.

The project, being undertaken by Santa Baron Ventures, is 60 per cent complete.

The consultant to the project, Mr David Tetteh, said all the concrete works had been completed and work on the project should be completed on time.

The Vice Chancellor of UCC, Professor D.D Kuupole, accompanied by the Director of the Centre, Professor George Oduro, led a team on a working visit to the facility last Friday.

The Vice Chancellor noted that to optimise the facility's use upon completion, the university had decided that it would also serve as a study centre for CCE post-diploma students from Agona Swedru, Asamankese and Akim Oda and their environs.

According to Prof. Kuupole, the core mandate of the university to train teachers for the nation's institutions was being pursued vigorously, adding that the university's CCE was helping the UCC to reach out to many more people in need of higher education.
