The old one got burnt early this year.

In support of the project, the North American branch of the Bekwai Adventist Old Students Association (BAOSA) and the 1990 Year Group of the school continue to make donations for the speedy execution of the project, with the association recently presenting six tonnes of iron rods worth US$3000, while the year group also donated nine tonnes of iron rods worth US$4500.

The new one-storey dormitory is about 45 per cent complete, as it has got to the casting of the top of the first floor, with maximum support from some old students and other institutions.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr George Oduro-Yeboah, commended the old students for making good use of social media to raise funds towards the development of their alma mater and said the social media platform should be utilised positively to promote the growth and development of businesses and progress in society.

He said it was disheartening that such a vital tool was negatively being used for the mere transmission of videos, pictures and for fun instead of using it to promote development.

Commendation

He commended individuals, groups and institutions, especially the 1990 Year Group, for their exceptional support towards the development of the school, and gave an assurance that the items would be fully utilised for the intended purpose.

Recounting the fire outbreak at the school on January 27, this year, Mr Oduro-Yeboah said a resident on campus raised an alarm of a fire outbreak around 8.40 p.m. on that day, while the students were studying in their classrooms.

The fire destroyed everything: trunks, ‘chop’ boxes, clothes, books and buckets and the spillover of the fire caused serious damage to nearby buildings.

He said the authorities immediately called in officials of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), but when they got to the scene, the fire had destroyed everything.

The inferno left in its trail the destruction of the Nana Ameyaw Dormitory Block “B,” leaving 54 students ‘homeless’ as they also lost all their belongings.

The school authorities, as a temporary measure, accommodated the students in some classrooms.

The President of the of BAOSA, Dr Price Acheampong, made a donation on behalf of the 1990 Year Group and pledged their  unflinching support towards the development of the school.

The Spokesperson of the 1990 Year Group, Mr Jones Atta-Gyamfi, commended the headmaster of the school for his role in the development of education and appealed to the students to take their education seriously so that they would be able to attain their life-long dreams and also make their parents proud.
