Reacting to a publication carried by the Daily Graphic in its Friday, May 16, 2014 edition, captioned, “Educational Innovators holds summit for BECE candidates”, WAEC described the said publication as erroneous which had the tendency to mislead the public.

The said story stated in part that “At the end of the summit, participants answered 40 WAEC standard objective questions in each subject using WAEC scannable answer sheets. The papers were instantly marked by Urban Data and Educational Consult Ltd (UDEC), a company that marks the objective test papers for WAEC.”

A statement signed and issued by WAEC’s Principal Public Affairs Officer, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, said “We wish to inform members of the public that WAEC does not engage the services of any company or third party to mark the objective test papers or process candidates’ results, as erroneously carried in the publication cited.

“The objective answer cards are scanned at WAEC by staff in-house. The council does not have any relationship with Urban Data and Educational Consult Ltd (UDEC), and would like to use this medium to request the writer, UDEC and others to desist from misleading members of the public,” the statement concluded.
