A statement issued in Accra today and signed by the Minister of Education (MoE), Professor Naana Opoku Agyeman, said the decision was taken following a meeting between the Inter-Ministerial Team (IMT) on Ebola Viral Disease and public and private tertiary institutions to assess their preparedness for a possible Ebola virus attack.

According to the statement, the IMT also recommended that all tertiary institutions shared their preparedness plans with the government through the MoE by August 25, 2014.

The statement said the government had electronically shared educational materials for the benefit of the management, staff and students with all heads and representatives of tertiary institutions who attended a previous meeting on Monday August 18, this year in Accra.

It said the government would continue to share further information via the same medium to strengthen the special partnership in the fight against a possible Ebola attack.

The statement expressed the government’s appreciation and that of the MoE to all tertiary institutions for the co-operation they had enjoyed from them, especially in the current fight against a possible outbreak of the disease.
