UNESCO boss to vist Ghana
The Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Ms Irina Bokova, will pay a three-day visit to Ghana from July, 7 to 9 this year.
She was appointed in November 15, 2009, and she is the first woman to head the organisation.
Ms Bokova, who is from Bulgaria, graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations and studied at the University of Maryland (Washington and the John F Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University).
She has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, where she was responsible for human rights issues.
She was also appointed to be in charge of political and legal affairs at the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria to the United Nations in New York.
As part of her three-day visit, she will meet with ministers working in conjunction with UNESCO and heads of UN agencies in Ghana.
